Dr. Simon Gerdemann

Simon is a multi-award-winning legal scholar specializing in Whistleblowing Law, Digital Law, Civil Law and Comparative Law. He has advised various national and international legislators and institutions in drafting new whistleblowing laws and policies and regularly trains judges, lawyers and whistleblowing authorities in how to apply and effectively implement whistleblowing legislation. Simon has provided legal advice to whistleblowers and whistleblowing institutions in many different capacities, inter alia, the European Court of Human Rights. 

Simon currently heads the chair for Civil Law, Commercial and Economic Law, Comparative Law, Multimedia Law and Telecommunication Law at the University of Göttingen and is the principal investigator of the research project “Impact Analysis of German and European Whistleblowing Law”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). His publications include an award-winning thesis on US and German whistleblowing law, scientific papers on various facets of European whistleblowing law and its impacts across different legal areas, as well as a renowned commentary on German whistleblowing law published together with his colleague Ninon Colneric.
